Bakso Kumis: How Big is Big?

Have you ever seen a tennis ball? But edible?

Usually, when you grew up, foods that you used to have when you were a kid suddenly appeared to be smaller. Because, well, you grow up. Food stays the same. What filled you back then only did half its job now.

But the rule doesn't apply for this one. Bakso Kumis appeared as big as ever when I finally went again after seven years. Here's how long seven years is. A fetus should be in second grade now.

They'll give you three tennis ball-sized meatballs, take it or leave it. It's been operating since 1970s, and they've been known for their big balls; literally.

I could not remember how it tasted back then, but I am surprised that it is now somewhere in-between soft and chewy. It's not too resilient to cut with a spoon but not too smooth either that it doesn't feel like muscle anymore.

When I cut it in half, I kid you not. There was a chunk of fat in the middle. I couldn't be happier.

One of the simplest Bakso ever for sure. It has a concept and sticks to it. Whatever everyone else is doing differently don't matter. Now that's real principle and confidence.
